In loving memory.

This weekend I did something that I've been wanting to do for 5 years now.

5 years ago my uncle tragically passed away.

It was by far one of the hardest things I have ever been through in my entire life,

If not the hardest.

He meant more to me than he will ever know and I miss him & think about him every single day.

Tattoos are permanent and I am very aware of that,

I want nothing more than a beautiful reminder that my Uncle is always here with me. 

[It says, I carry your heart with me]

Friday night my best friend Claire and I headed to Prison Break Tattoos 

in hopes that I would be getting my very first tattoo!

I knew exactly where and what I wanted, but of course was absolutely terrified.

We walked in and everyone there was SO friendly and helpful and made me feel super comfortable.

I told them exactly what I wanted and we went through some different font options, 

only took me about 3 minutes to decide on one, and holy crap was I excited.

Before I knew it I was laying on the table with little needles shooting ink into the skin on my spine.

Now, I'm going to admit that it DID hurt, however not near as bad as I was expecting.

I did a lot of googling beforehand and totally freaked myself out,

like almost to the point where I didnt go through with it.

Everywhere I looked said that your spine is THE most painful spot, 

Also, when I walked into the parlor and told them where I wanted it, they were like..

"You want it on your spine and this is your FIRST tattoo?! Wellp, go big or go home I guess"

Since I was expecting it to be SO awful, I think I was surprised at how not awful it was,

if that even makes any sense? haha

It was definitely uncomfortable and there were some parts that hurt like heck, 

but Ivan did such an incredible job and really made it THE best experience for me. 

I am SO in love with my new tattoo and so happy I finally did it.

I carry your heart with me, I carry it in my heart, I am never without it.

Kyle and I had a VERY uneventful weekend, 

we've been watching Lost and holy cow we are ADDICTED.

We're on the 5th season and things are getting SO good and crazy...

Needless to say all last weekend was spent on the couch being worthless,

so we finally got dressed and ventured out Sunday evening for a little date night at Chuys.

Our waitress was seriously something else. 

I LOVE when we get waitresses/waiters that are a little different, 

it always makes date night way more interesting.

As soon as we got there she looked at me and said, 

"WELL, don't you look like you just hopped straight out of a magazine!"

haha well thank ya ma'am! 

Not gonna lie, I questioned this outfit for a few minutes before leaving the house, but hey I went with it and it's actually one of my favorites now, and I'll definitely be repeating!

Our waitress was very talkative and had no shame when it came to asking us questions...

She asked if we had any romantic plans after dinner, how many pets and what kind, when are we going to have kids, how long have we been married, how old are we, told me I should wait until at least 32 to get pregnant (HA!) 

I could go on and on...

it's people like this that I genuinely enjoy in life, 

people that are open and want to get to know you just for fun,

I could tell she was asking questions because she genuinely cared and was curious,

not just to make conversation and get a better tip.

I hope that this next year I'm more like her...

Not always so worried what people think of me, 

Genuinely ask questions & get to know people no matter where I am, 

Take a step back from my phone and engage in conversation w/ strangers,

Find the good in everyone...really everyone,

Collect moments and memories and not things.

I don't know about y'all [my fellow Houstonians] but it sure is hard to get in the Christmas spirit when it's 80 degrees outside.

Like C'MON cold weather, where ya at?!

I'm so behind on blogging but there's actually been some PRETTY 

exciting things going on in my life!

In October I did my very first pop up shop and brought a few racks to a local salon plaza for 2 days!

It was SO.MUCH.FUN.

It definitely made me want to have my own store, whichhhhhhhhhhhh, ya never know,

could very well be happening in the near future!

hehehe

Wellp, todays post will have to be short & sweet because I need to go finish all my

Christmas shopping!!!

Kyle has a lot of vacation days built up so he's pretty much gotten to take off every Friday

for the past few weeks until next year! 

WHICH MEANS.... fun day dates y'all *insert salsa dancing emoji*

The zoo is probably one of my most favorite places ever...

I'm that girl that cries anytime she sees a baby animal.

Giraffes have to be my all time favorite, 

like can't breathe, hold back the tears, try not to scream kind of favorite. 

 (next to dolphins, but they aren't at the zoo) 

I immediately turn into a child when there are giraffes or any animals I love in close proximity,

and I have absolutely no shame about it.

brb while I cry and stare at the giraffes for hours on end.

I have the major sads right now because I was going through iPhoto planning this post,

andddddd ALL our photos from this day are gone :( 

Damn you, iPhoto. 

We had such a fun little day walking around the Zoo, holding hands and being all romantical.

The Holiday Season is of course one of my absolute favs.

Nothing like stuffing yourself with delicious food surrounded by all of your favorite people.

This Thanksgiving we headed over to my parents house around noon to spend the day with my family.

SO thankful for this beautiful, crazy family of mine.

Halloween 2015 Part II

Saturday night a group of us headed to the Houston Museum of Natural Science for their

annual Halloween Party!

If this wasn't the greatest idea I've ever had.. then, HELL I don't know what is...

Claire and I LOVED being Taco twins for the night!

Kyle has never been one for costumes but he was a good sport 

and represented 'Merica pretty dang well.

Such a handsome little devil.

Not going to lie, It was slightly weird and crazy being in the middle of a museum partying...

Everyone LOVED mine and Claire's costumes, these 'best friend' hats are definitely one of the 

best purchases i've ever made.

We met up with my sister and brother in law and a group of their friends, 

and I'm SO sad we didn't get any pictures with them!

It was definitely hard keeping up with everyone and trying to stay together in such a huge place.

If you live in Houston I would HIGHLY recommend going next year, 

we had so much fun!!

Halloween 2015 Part I

This Halloween was definitely one for the books.

Kyle and I really haven't done anything for Halloween since college
 so we were WAY overdue for a little fun.

We had plans for Saturday but my best friend Claire and I felt the urge to troll the town Friday night.
So...Vampires it was!

We had THE best night.

Claire is one of those friends where you can literally be sitting in a dumpster, starving, naked, in 20 degree weather and you will still be having the best time of your life.

She definitely makes this life of mine WAY brighter.

We headed to midtown and met up with Kyle's cousin & his girlfriend for a little bit.

Then continued roaming the streets and being constantly asked if we were twins,

to which we of course replied with "duh, how'd ya know?!"

We get that question pretty regularly, and we kind of love it.
Friday was lots of fun, I'll never get sick of girls nights no matter how old I get...
But SATURDAY is when the real party happened...

Every now and then life throws you a curve ball and you have to make really tough decisions.

At the age of 26 i've officially learned that life truly isn't fair, 

and sometimes things happen... 

 People will enter into your life and completely alter it without your consent or control... 

or maybe you do have control, 

but you just have no idea why God placed them there or what their purpose in your life is,

Questioning if they are supposed to stay and be a big part of your life, 

maybe even your whole life...

or if they were always just supposed to be temporary.

I guess there will always be unanswered questions in these crazy lives we lead,

 and maybe it's better off that way.

Shout out to Jesus. 

For loving me even though I fail Him every day...

For pushing me to make tough decisions and grow from them...

For blessing me with a TRUE friendship when I needed it most...

 For providing me with a husband that sees all my flaws and loves me the same...

For a family that supports every decision and goal I have...

 Going back to what I said about life being unfair,

maybe it's only felt that way lately because i've been relying on myself too much and not on Him.
