Life is good y'all.

Top: Topshop [similar]
Vest: ShopConversationPieces (similar vest coming soon to my store)
Jeans: LuLus
Booties: Zara [similar]

Life is good y'all.
Owning an actual store has helped me grow as a person in SO many ways,
and i've been learning soooo much!
Gaining knowledge about being a business owner as well as learning [a hell of a lot] about myself.

Opening my store has made me a happier person because i'm actually getting to live out what I love.
Getting up every morning and putting together a cute outfit to wear for work
is literally what I live for.

That probably sounds insane to most of you, but that's how MCE came to life.
Because of this little blog...
because I was SO passionate about putting outfits together
and sharing them with people and inspiring people.
Because of YOU, reading this and supporting me.
That passion and inspiration and support created MCE.

...and although working from home and just being online was pretty cool,
I kind of lost myself and wasn't getting to use my creativity like I am now.

SO here's to MANY MORE outfit posts on this here little blog.
I've been a little MIA since opening my store but I'm back in action y'all.
Hope my #ootd has inspired you in one way or another.

Cinco De Drinko/Life Man

Dress: LuLus
Sandals:  LuLus
Bag: Tobi  similar

Well, this past week was definitely an interesting one.
Tuesday I got into a minor wreck...
It was my first real wreck so I was absolutely hysterical, of course.
Thank goodness no one was hurt and the damage to both cars wasn't too bad!

Meanwhile I've been driving around this big black truck while my car gets fixed,
I went ahead and named her Black Swan, it fits her well.

I'm currently sitting on the couch on my day off attempting to blog/relax
while Charley is clawing through the backdoor, barking like a maniac,
trying to get inside to the ATT people who are installing our new cable.
Good Lord almighty, dogs can be the worst sometimes.
I know she means well of course, just trying to protect her mama,
but if i'm honest I would be willing to give her to a homeless person in this exact moment...

In other news, my birthday is coming up!
And I've requested nothing more than a day with the giraffes.
If you're new here you'll learn pretty quickly that i'm an animal lover...
Of course if this is the first post you're reading you may also think i'm a bit bi polar
seeing as a paragraph ago I was just talking about handing my dog off to a homeless person.

Okay but on a serious note let's talk about this outfit I'm wearing...
LuLu's has never failed me.
This dress is SO cute and casual but the straps on the back make it super unique and a tad fancy.
I wore this last Thursday when me and a few of my girlfriends celebrated Cinco de mayo.
We first went to a little place called Julep which was totally adorable.
after a few drinks we hit up another place and then decided to part ways.
My girlfriend Maggie and I decided to head to Kirby Ice House to meet up with our baes.
and well, the rest is history.

It's Been A While...

[Entire outfit is from LuLus, i'm a total LuLus whore and I have 0 shame]

Hey everyone!!

It has officially been a full month since the opening of my store and
I can honestly say that never in my life have I been happier.

Getting up and going to work (an hour away) every day has definitely been an adjustment.
I haven't had a legit full time job since I first graduated college & worked for a pharmacy.
Don't get me wrong, my online boutique was a full time job....
but it's a lot different when you don't have to set an alarm clock and can work in your underwear.

But i'm happy to say that even though I'm exhausted, I'm loving every minute of it.
I finally feel like myself again.
Still working on getting into a routine, but so far so good!

If you live in Houston you HAVE to come see me!!!!!

Rodeo Houston with Chris Young

I'm having all kinds of issues getting my camera to focus lately -_- I apologize guys.

Top: LuLus
Jeans: Cotton On
Boots: Justin Boots via Cavenders Boot City
Choker: Forever21
Necklace: Kate Spade

Kyle won a bunch of rodeo tickets at work and I am WAY too excited about it.
Rodeo season just might be my favorite time of year y'all.
This was our first night of the year and Chris Young was performing,
I never realized how many damn good songs he sings.
It was such an incredible concert.

If you don't know, now ya know...Chokers are crazy on trend right now.
I've been on the search for the perfect chokers to include in my accessory drawer
and I fell in love with this lace one I found on the Forever21 website.

You will probably feel weird at first and won't know what outfit is acceptable to wear a choker with...
But pretty much anything works...just go for it ;)

Always a good time with this one <3

Saturday Funz

This dress will always be one of my favs.
You could eat 5 cheeseburgers and still feel fabulous in it,
Those are the kind of dresses every girl needs to have in her closet.

Dress: LuLus
Heels: LuLus

Saturday was spent showering this beautiful bride to be with gifts.

There has been sooooo much going on in this crazy life of mine.
I've got some exciting things in my near future though and I can't wait to share with all of you!

Stay Tuned y'all.

Rodeo Cook Off 2016

Yes I'm aware these are blurry -_- I was in a rush y'all. :/

Jacket: Forever21
Boots:  Justin Boots via Cavenders

My best girlfriend Claire scored tickets to Rodeo Cook Off Thursday night & invited Kyle and I!
I've never actually been to cook off so I was super excited.

We headed over to their place to have a few drinks then took the train to NRG.

We sipped on some beers and listened to some good ol country music.
Claire and I did some dancing while the boys just watched haha
Still working on getting Kyle to come out on the dance floor with me..
That boy is stubborn as all hell when it comes to dancing, oh well.
Ya win some and ya lose some!

Happy Monday!

Re-living our glory days

Top: Urban Outfitters
Jeans: Paige Denim via Nordstrom
Heels: LuLus [similar] [super cute]
Necklace: Forever21

This weekend one of my best college girlfriends came into town for a little girls night!
She lives in the middle of nowhere in a small town and she's got a 1 yr old,
so it's not often that she's able to get out on the town!

My girlfriend, Liz, and I took the liberty of taking her out for a fun little girls night.

The night started out at Cyclone Anayas in midtown with jumbo margaritas & girl talk,
If you're following me on snapchat [monicaleeee] i'm sure you were able to get a clear picture of what our evening was like after that haha

but if not i'll just leave it to your imagination ;)
There were lots of shots taken, and tons of dancing done!

Girls nights just might be my favorite kind of nights.

OOTD Y'all

Top: TopShop [similar]
Jeans: LuLus
Jacket: Nordstrom
Heels: LuLus [similar]

Totally loving this outfit y'all.
I scored this top from TopShop in the Galleria and i'm in love.
The color is gorg and the fit is pretty great also.
If you've never been to TopShop you're totally missing out.
The quality of clothing is awesome and their pricing is totally affordable for us girls on a budget.

FYI this is my personal opinion, not getting paid/bribed to say these things.
Now let's talk about these jeans...
they are everything.
If you've been following my blog for a while i'm sure you are well aware that
I am a HUGE LuLus fan...
These jeans are super comfy and i'm obsessed with the zipper details.
They're currently sold out but you can still sign up to be added onto their wait list!

The week is halfway over!!
Happy Hump Day

The Chop.

Y'all!
I totally didn't realize how behind I am, I haven't even showed y'all my new hair!!!
WHO AM I?!
Although if you follow me on instagram i'm sure you're already well aware.

BUT...a couple weeks ago I randomly decided I was going to chop all of my hair off...
I'm the type of girl that panics if life starts getting too routine or un-exciting,
Every now and then I just need some kind of drastic change,
and well, this time, my hair was the victim.

She cut about 10 inches off and holy crap I felt like a new woman.

Here's a little before and after for all of you.
I'm not going to lie and i'll admit sometimes I REALLY miss my long hair,
BUT it's a fun little change and it's SO much easier to maintain.
I'm definitely a long haired girl at heart
so it will be fun to go through the stages of growing it back out.

However, I think I'm more into the straight look with it short...
What do y'all think?!
Anyone else thinking about going for the LOB this Spring?

Hope all of you have a wonderful Monday!
Who's pumped about HOME DATES on the Bachelor tonight?!
hehehe

What i've learned -- in my 2 years of marriage.

First, and foremost.
I am by no means a person to be giving any marital advice, that is NOT what this post is.
It's just me sharing what i've experienced & learned  in my 2 years of marriage,
after making mistakes and doing a little trial and error.
My hope is maybe that it will help someone who may be experiencing the same things,
to know they are not alone,
or prevent them from experiencing some of the hardships of marriage that can be avoided.

Let's get started....
There is no such thing as perfect people,
which means there is no such thing as a perfect marriage/relationship.
So to everyone watching romance movies and reading romance novels
and expecting that to be your future, keep crying ladies, because perfect men do not exist.
Neither do perfect women, so go ahead and set your tiara down.

We as humans have a sinful nature, and that's that.

My husband and I dated a good 7-8 years before we made the decision to get married.
I mean, I thought I knew everything there possibly was to know about him...WRONG.
We had never lived together previously...and good God almighty you learn A LOT about a person after living with them.

For instance, Kyle's learned that I always leave the bathroom messy, especially the sink.
I'm an extremely messy teeth brusher and it drives him absolutely nuts.
Not to mention all of the clothes I tried on for the day, those are all on the floor.

And I've learned that men are incapable of wiping off the counter/sink after they shave.
Kyle is somewhat of a clean freak (which I love) BUT for some unknown reason
he does not mind his facial hair sitting in our sink for days on end.

(needless to say our bathroom is repulsive...ha! totally kidding I actually cleaned it yesterday)

Those of course are silly/little examples that you learn to work on for the sake of your spouse.

Kyle and I had a pretty great & easy going first year of marriage,
I remember people always telling/warning us,
"Ohhhh the first year is the toughest, Just stay strong, you'll get through it"
and I always remember thinking during our first year....
"Dang, if this is what people consider tough then we're going to be the happiest couple alive."

Fast forward to our second year...
"OHHHHH this is what they were talking about!"
Marriage is such a beautiful and amazing gift that God has given us,
but it's also a lot of hard work.

There will be days when you want to physically strangle your significant other...
and it's all up to you to not act on that desire (haha laugh, its a joke --- kind of)

Now i'm not saying EVERY single one of you will experience these struggles,
but let me just warn you that not one person is exempt from them.

There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle financially,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with time management,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with freedom,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with temptation,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with selfishness,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with feeling alone,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with household chores,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with in laws/ family members,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with deaths,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with heart ache,
There will be times in your marriage when you will struggle with picking up your socks off the floor...
And consider yourself one of the lucky ones if you only experience one of these at a time.
Because, they sure as hell can all hit you at once,
and that's only a short list of all of the possible struggles....

But guess what?! It's ALL worth it.
Whether you're married or not, relationships are hard work,
and to those people that say,
"if it's true love it shouldn't be work at all"
they can all go shove that sentence up their butt because they don't know what they're talking about,
or they've just never been in a serious long term relationship before.

I'm not saying it's always hard work y'all.
Loving Kyle comes very easy the majority of the time.
He's handsome, he's caring, he's giving, he's faithful, he's a hard worker...
I could go on and on about the qualities I adore about him.

But one of the most important things I have learned these last 2 years is about myself.
I've finally learned after 26 years that I cannot rely on a man for everything.
God gave us a partner to enjoy and do life with but not to BE our life.
As soon as you start relying on your spouse to be EVERYthing for you,
you are going to find yourself VERY unhappy.
People are flawed,
no man/woman will have every single little quality on your "perfect spouse" check list,
You have to be happy with yourself, and your life before you can truly be happy with your spouse.

You have to find your purpose outside of just being a wife.
And that was one thing I really struggled with this 2nd year of marriage.

Yes I own a business, I work from home, where I'm alone, by myself, all day, every day.
and y'all that's TOUGH.
I remember being in high school and just wanting to be a stay at home mom,
or having a job where I could work from home...that was MY DREAM y'all.

And fast forward to now, I'm literally living my dream and i've never been so unhappy.
But that's okay. Because i've finally learned what's causing that sadness and guess what?
It's NOT my husband!!!!
It's ME.

I am a very social person, I need people, I need communication, I need physical affection, I need to be challenged, I need to have a goal i'm working toward.
Working from home I get absolutely ZERO of that, and by the time Kyle came home from work every day I was absolutely desperate for all of it...and he was exhausted and just wanted a few minutes to himself.
This my friends, is a very dangerous path...
Now i'm not going to get into all the details... but if you aren't happy with yourself it can cause you to blame others for your unhappiness.
It may have taken me a lot longer than I would have hoped but i've finally come to the realization
that it's not my husband that's not giving me enough,
it's me expecting him to give me EVERYTHING, and then being upset when he isn't able too.

You CANNOT rely on your spouse to fulfill your every want and need at all times.
This is what you have God, family and friends for.

Happiness starts with YOU,
not your relationships, not with your job, not with your money, but with YOU.
I'm so thankful for a God who shows me that i'm capable of so much more than I think I am.
Who loves me though I fail him every day,
Who sees the depths of my heart and loves me the same.

"I will praise you in this storm. I raise my hands and praise the God who gives and takes away."

Life is all about learning & growing and becoming better than you were yesterday.
And I can't wait to see where God takes Kyle and I the next 100  (give or take a few) years we have together...
